Driver Complaint – Losing power, hesitating and flat spot, no fault codes or warning lights displayed.

Cause/Symptom – The fault can be diagnosed by pulling back on the gear lever when the problem occurs, if the fault then clears the cause is probably the gearbox neutral switch.

Rectification Route – The gearbox neutral switch sends a signal to the engine ECU when the gearbox is in or out of gear, in this instance the switch was not making contact correctly and the ECU signal was incorrect. The switch was replaced and after a thorough road test the fault was confirmed to be cleared.
