Driver Complaint - Loud noise from alternator area.
Cause - Auxiliary drive belt flapping at engine idle speed.
Rectification Route - This fault was on a vehicle fitted with a Valeo120 amp alternator fitted with a one way clutch system in the pulley, the auxiliary belt could be seen flapping excessively before going round the crankshaft pulley. On further investigation with the auxiliary belt removed the one way clutch mechanism was found to be seized. Replacing the pulley/clutch assembly fixed the complaint.
