Anyone had a timing chain snap on one of these engines, if so is it worth the repair or not. ie valve damage ect ect.

Any input appreciated.

Just answering some of the older questions on the forum, just in case someone has came across the same issue. Thumbs Up

So, I have had something similar to this before where the timing chain had jumped, this caused me a substantial amount of pain in order to check and make sure everything was ok.
The labour time for the timing chain is approx 3 hours, Checking the valves for damage (inlet and outlet valve guide wear limit 0.8mm). If the wear limit is exceeded, repeat measurement with new valve. If the wear limit is again exceeded, replace cylinder head.
Find below the compression readings for the engine.

Again, its determining whether or not the time you'd spend checking the components etc is going to be worth the repair which applies to all vehicles not just this one. In this case, you'd have to replace the timing chain, then you'd have to consider whether or not to do this before being able to check these for component damage, you could potentially work around this, but you'd be able to weigh up your options from this point. I had my Skoda Octavia suffer from the swirl flap disintegrating and one of the flaps going into the pot and having a lovely imprint on my piston. I just swapped the engine, which saved me time and money in the long run.
