We have a customer with a problem with a 56 plate Jaguar X-Type 2.2 diesel smoking on mornings, it's recently had a new EGR valve, glow plugs and intake manifold seals. It seems to run reasonably well other than that other than a slight reported loss of power but no fault codes stored.

Thanks

We have no known concerns on this, other than the normal injector issues which can cause excessive black smoke or occasionally white smoke if the injectors are not setting correctly. Equally the injectors may be leaking whilst the engine is off which could cause some initial smoke on start up.

It is difficult to know without sight of the vehicle, however injector testing including leak back and correct IMA setting for injectors if applicable to this specific vehicle, may be the next step if the symptoms persist.

Hope this helps? Anyone else have any thoughts or experience on this symptom?

Maybe worth checking/changing leak off pipes and T-peices.. Had several Saab diesels with the same problem, not the same car i know but worth a look. After changing these fault was cured
