Has anyone come across an intermittent fault, where the car will not always start when engine is hot? We have only one fault code - (P3325, power supply terminal 15 not plausible)
we have eliminated crank sensor, & fuel pump relay. also changed fuel filter.

Any thoughts??

Hi,

Yes this is a common concern.
We have had several members calling with various fixes on this, ranging from replacing battery, replacing starter and/or fitting of a 'D.I.Y' modification to the wiring on the coolant temperature sensor.

There was an article produced in the 'Simmo's Solutions' section of the RMI AI magazine of October/November last year (see attached file)

Basically when hot the ECU needs to see a set cranking speed and if this is not seen by the ECU then it will not trigger the injectors. so if you have poor power to the ECU (I.E Terminal 15 voltage low as indicated in your fault code) then the engine may not fire due to the cranking speed seen by ECU being low. Also if the actual cranking speed is low due to poor or incorrect battery, worn starter or increased resistance in the starter wiring (or earth line!) then these can all affect hot starting. Cranking speed is non essential for the ECU when cold so try disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor when you know the problem will occur, if the vehicle starts easier you know all else is well! (fools ECU to default coolant/engine temperature which over rides the need for specific cranking speed!)
I assume you have checked all connections at the ECU as these are very prone to terminal corrosion due to water contamination on the connector

Anyone else have a fix for this?
