I had in a 2009 on scenic 3, which has handbrake motors on each caliper. During a routine rear brake replacement the handbrake was activated and even with Renault diagnostic equipment, they couldn't be put into a maintenance mode to wind back pistons. After a call to Renault, and a specialist, I was told that this has happened before and the caliper a have to be replaced! Not convinced I decided to disconnect calipers and have a look, I found the motor only has two wires, so with nothing to loose I reversed the feed to the motors, via a slave battery, and the motor retracted! I could then carefully push piston back and complete the repair.
