Driver Complaint – Engine management warning light illuminated and codes indicating a fault with the diesel particulate filter.

Cause/Symptom – If the battery has gone flat or has been disconnected within 5 minutes of engine switch of cycle it is possible that the engine control module will set the DPF soot calculation to 105% as soon as the battery is reconnected/charged. If the vehicle is then driven it is possible that the soot level will then reach the loading level of 108%, activation of the warning light and possible code storage will follow, it is highly likely that there is no issue with the DPF.

Rectification Route – Modified ECU software upgrade is required to eliminate the situation.
