Driver Complaint – Rough idle speed and engine management light illuminated P0301, P0302, P0303 or P0304 could be in the memory.
Cause/Symptom – The engine management control unit is programmed to carry out a process called Small Quantity Learning (SQL). SQL is performed automatically after a certain mileage to identify and compensate for injector tolerances through normal wear.
Rectification Route – These codes indicate engine mechanical fault, wiring, ignition/fuel system, injector fault, or ECM. There is a modified software update available to overcome this problem. In this instance the ECM was updated and the problem was illuminated.
