Driver Complaint – Poor performance and engine management warning light illuminated. Cause/Symptom – Fault code P0132 logged in the system indicating front heated oxygen sensor voltage too high causing high exhaust emissions. Rectification Route – In this instance the voltage on the front sensor with the component connected, engine at idle across terminal number 2 and earth was 2.49 volts. The manufacturers figure is 0-1 volt (fluctuating). When the rear sensor was disconnected the front reading came down to the specified figure. The wiring from both sensors back to the engine management module was checked and confirmed o.k. The rear sensor was replaced and the fault code for the front sensor was removed from the system, a road test confirmed that the fault was now clear.
