Driver Complaint – Gear selector will not release from park until engine has started.
Cause/Symptom – In this instance the vehicle had been miss-fuelled and the recovery driver did not want to run the engine.
Rectification Route – There is an emergency release mechanism built into the system. In the centre console below the centre arm rest there is a removable trim panel, remove this to reveal a fabric release handle secured with a small screw. Remove the screw and pull the lever this action should release the selector from park. (If there is a handbook in the car full instructions are contained within).
