Driver Complaint – Engine Management Light on and fault code 19559 (P3103) stored in the system, no drivability issues.

Cause/Symptom – Fault relates to Intake Manifold Flap Motor V157 that is bolted to the inlet manifold with the EGR unit. The purpose of this valve is to reduce the engine stop jolt when the ignition is turned off, the valve closes for approximately 3 seconds then opens again once the engine has completely stopped. The flap can become contaminated with carbon deposits and stick, when this happens the ECU monitors the situation and records the fault code.

Rectification Route – Remove the Intake Manifold Flap Motor with the EGR unit and completely clean and remove any deposits obstructing the operation of the valve flap. Reassemble fitting new seals and gaskets as required. Remove the fault codes and road test as required.
