Driver Complaint – Wipers switch off and are on fast speed intermittently on their own regardless of the weather conditions.

Cause – In this instance it was discovered that the vehicle had recently had a replacement front windscreen.

Rectification Route – On further investigation it was discovered that the wiring to the rain sensor had been damaged and was intermittently shorting out. There are six wires to the sensor, it was one of the 3 wires that connect back to the multifunction control module (located in the facia fuse box) that had been damaged, shorting to ground and causing the fault. The wiring was made good, the system tested and the fault proved to be rectified.
