We have been asked by a member if it is necessary to notify the DVSA when replacing a Diesel Smoke Meter.

The MOT Testing Guide - Requirements for Authorisation - Premises & Equipment states:


3. .........................................................The renewal of mobile testing equipment does not have to be notified to DVSA provided that the replacement is on the current DVSA approved list and will not affect the range of vehicles that can be tested.

So, although notification is required for replacement/alteration of/to fixed test equipment, the only requirement for mobile equipment is that it is on the approved list.
